Xaar 318 Original OEM Printhead

The Xaar 318 (also known as Toshiba CA4) is a high-quality multi-drop greyscale industrial piezoelectric inkjet printhead designed for photographic image quality in graphics and industrial applications. With 318 active nozzles, a 53.6 mm print swathe and native 150 npi resolution, it delivers smooth tonal transitions and fine detail through variable drop sizes from 6 pL to 90 pL.

This greyscale printhead supports up to 16 levels of grey, enabling high effective resolution and excellent image quality while optimising ink consumption. It is compatible with oil-based pigment inks and UV-curable pigment inks, making it suitable for a range of wide-format and flatbed systems.

Technical Precision & Operational Advisory

CRITICAL SAFETY & HANDLING WARNINGS

ESD Protection: The printhead is sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Always use a properly grounded wrist strap, anti-static work mat, and maintain relative humidity between 40–60% RH. Never touch the electrical connectors or nozzle plate without ESD protection.
Power Isolation & Sequencing: Ensure correct power sequencing is followed according to manufacturer guidelines. Use only approved driver electronics and power supplies. Incorrect voltage application or hot-plugging can permanently damage the actuator.
Meniscus Pressure / Sub-Atmospheric Control: Maintain stable negative (sub-atmospheric) meniscus pressure at all times. Incorrect pressure settings can cause nozzle flooding, air ingestion or deprime. Always follow the pressure parameters recommended for the specific ink in use.
Ink System Compatibility: Use only approved oil-based or UV-curable pigment inks. Ensure the ink system is clean, properly filtered and free of contamination before installation. Note that some installations require reusing the original bracket.

Failure to observe these operational guidelines may result in irreversible damage that is not covered under warranty. Installation and commissioning should only be performed by trained technicians experienced with Xaar 318 / Toshiba CA4 systems.

Compatible Models & Systems

The Xaar 318 is widely used in the following systems (and compatible equivalents):

Canon Océ Arizona series: 300 GT, 318 GL, 350 GT, 350 XT, 360 GT, 360 XT
Fujifilm Acuity Advance series: HD2545, HD2545 X2, HD2545W, HD2565, HD2565 X2, HYB172, LT
Other wide-format and flatbed platforms designed for the Xaar 318 / Toshiba CA4 interface

Full electrical and mechanical compatibility must be verified against the specific machine model, firmware and waveform set before installation. Many installations require reusing the original bracket from the previous printhead.

Terms, Warranty & Customer Protection

Pre-Installation Guarantee	Every unit is guaranteed 100% genuine, brand-new, and factory-sealed. The product is warranted free from manufacturing defects when received with the original factory seal intact and prior to any installation or fluid introduction.
Video Unboxing Requirement	Any claim for damage, shortage, or non-conformity must be supported by a continuous, unedited video recording of the unboxing process, starting from the outer packaging and clearly showing the serial number / barcode. Claims submitted without a complete unboxing video will not be processed.
Non-Returnable Policy	Once the factory seal is broken, the printhead is installed, or any fluid (ink) is introduced into the device, the product becomes strictly non-returnable and non-refundable. This policy applies to all industrial piezoelectric printheads due to their extreme sensitivity to contamination and operational history.
Storage & Handling	Store in the original sealed packaging at 10–30 °C and 40–60% relative humidity. Protect from strong magnetic fields, direct sunlight, and electrostatic sources. Do not open the seal until the printhead is ready for immediate installation.
