Product Overview

The Genuine Ricoh MH5220 (commonly known as Gen5) is a high-resolution industrial UV inkjet printhead engineered for outstanding image quality and long-term reliability. Featuring 1,280 nozzles arranged in four staggered rows of 320 nozzles, it achieves native 600 dpi resolution with a minimum droplet size of just 2.5 pL, producing smooth, grain-free results. Multi-drop greyscale technology allows variable drop volumes from 2.5 to 9 pL across 4 grey levels, while a maximum jetting frequency of 30 kHz supports productive industrial printing. The robust stainless-steel construction, isolated ink paths (supporting up to two colors per head) and integrated heater + thermistor ensure stable performance with UV-curable inks even under continuous high-duty conditions. With a proven life of 100 billion actuations per nozzle, the MH5220 is widely used in label, packaging, wide-format graphics and other UV industrial systems requiring precise, high-definition output.

Technical Precision & Operational Advisory

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection: Always wear a properly grounded ESD wrist strap when handling the printhead. Piezo electronics are highly sensitive to static electricity.
Power Isolation Warning: Completely power off the printer and disconnect the main power supply before connecting or disconnecting the FFC ribbon cable or fluid lines.
Cable Replacement Protocol: It is strongly recommended to replace the head cable with a new genuine Ricoh cable when installing a new printhead to ensure reliable signal transmission.
Fluid System Preparation: Thoroughly flush the ink system with approved UV cleaning fluid before first use. Only use UV-curable inks within the recommended viscosity range (10–12 mPa·s).
Temperature Control: Utilize the integrated heater and thermistor to maintain optimal ink temperature and viscosity for consistent 2.5–9 pL droplet formation.
