Factory dual-color thermal inkjet printhead delivering uniform drops for Magenta and Yellow in HP DesignJet Z6600 and Z6800 engines.
OEM Part Number: P2V99A (HP No. 774) | Dual-Color Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) High-Speed Production Printhead
The Original HP 774 Magenta and Yellow Printhead (P2V99A) is an authentic original equipment manufacturer dual-color thermal drop-on-demand (DoD) inkjet printhead engineered specifically for high-throughput industrial production plotters, including the HP DesignJet Z6610 and Z6810 Production Printer series. Operating as the primary warm-chromatic imaging engine within HP’s Vivid Photo pigment architecture, the P2V99A printhead manages saturated Magenta (M) and Yellow (Y) channels to deliver high optical saturation, brilliant golden yellows, intense reds, and clean secondary color mixing across demanding high-speed commercial graphics runs.
Housing 2,112 active addressable nozzles (1,056 nozzles dedicated per channel across dual interleaved arrays), the HP 774 printhead fires calibrated 4 picoliter (pL) micro-droplets at native output resolutions up to 2400 × 1200 optimized DPI. Equipped with HP’s built-in Smart Printing Technology, the onboard cryptographic EEPROM continuously communicates with the carriage electronics to monitor nozzle health, dynamically compensate for thermal shifts, and execute automated drop detection and channel remapping. Formulated to operate with HP 774 Vivid Photo pigment inks, the printhead delivers exhibition-grade lightfastness, moisture resistance, and reliable nozzle jetting across photo gloss, satin films, fine art rag, canvas, and heavy matte substrates.

1. Platform Differentiation from HP 70 C9406A, HP 744 F9J87A, and HP 771 CE018A: While sharing the physical chassis form factor and Magenta/Yellow color allocation with earlier series, the HP 774 (P2V99A) features distinct high-frequency firing pulse parameters and cryptographic EEPROM identifiers keyed specifically to HP DesignJet Z6610 and Z6810 mainboards. They are not cross-compatible; do not install HP 70, HP 744, or HP 771 heads into a Z6610/Z6810 carriage.
2. Automated Alignment & Optical Calibration: After latching the P2V99A printhead, allow the printer to complete its automated printhead alignment routine. Ensure clean white photo gloss or heavyweight matte paper is loaded on the platen so the onboard optical sensor can clearly read the calibration patterns for both Magenta and Yellow channels.
3. Electrical Contact Pad Care: Never touch the rear gold contact array or the lower nozzle orifice faceplate with bare fingers. Skin oils and electrostatic discharge (ESD) can cause smart chip recognition errors or open-circuit faults. If contaminated, clean the pads gently using a lint-free cleanroom wipe lightly dampened with distilled water.
4. Packaging & Expiration Management: Keep the printhead sealed in its protective foil blister pack until immediately prior to physical installation to prevent nozzle dehydration. Check the "Install By" date on the packaging carton to ensure proper fluid wetting and actuator responsiveness.

*Model Differentiation Note: The HP 774 Magenta and Yellow printhead (P2V99A) operates across both the 6-color carriage of the DesignJet Z6610 and the 8-color carriage of the DesignJet Z6810. In these configurations, it works alongside P2V97A (Matte Black/Chromatic Red), P2W00A (Photo Black/Light Gray), P2W01A (Matte Black/Cyan), and on the Z6810, P2V98A (Light Magenta/Light Cyan). It cannot be substituted into legacy HP 70/72 platforms or newer HP 746/747 HDNA engines. Confirm plotter model before opening the inner blister foil.
Condition: 100% Brand New, Genuine OEM Factory-Original HP Replacement Printhead sealed in official packaging with factory storage fluid intact.
HP Manufacturer Warranty: Covered under HP's genuine parts limited warranty against materials and workmanship defects until the "Warranty Ends" date printed on the exterior carton, or until the factory-rated ink throughput threshold is reached, whichever comes first.
Return Policy: Precision electronic consumable component. Unopened, factory-sealed boxes are eligible for standard commercial return. Once the protective blister seal is opened, the orange protective shipping cap removed, or the head seated into the carriage and charged with ink, returns cannot be accepted due to smart chip activation, fluid priming, and cross-contamination risks.
