Factory-original 254-nozzle grayscale piezoelectric printhead calibrated for 12 pL drop size in HP DesignJet 8000s low-solvent printers.
OEM Part Number: Q6670-60001 / Q6670-67001 | Low-Solvent Industrial Piezoelectric Drop-on-Demand (DoD) Printhead
The Original HP DesignJet 8000s Printhead (Q6670-60001) is an authentic original equipment manufacturer industrial piezoelectric drop-on-demand (DoD) printhead engineered specifically for the 64-inch HP DesignJet 8000s (Q6670A) low-solvent wide-format production printer. Serving as the primary jetting engine across the 6-color carriage array (governing Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta channels), the Q6670-60001 printhead delivers high mechanical durability, sharp edge acutance, and high solvent resistance for outdoor advertising, heavy vehicle graphics, fleet wraps, and backlit banners.
Equipped with 256 active addressable nozzles operating across a 180 nozzles-per-inch (npi) native array density, the printhead utilizes shear-mode PZT piezoelectric actuators to fire calibrated 14 picoliter (pL) droplets at drive frequencies up to 8 kHz. Built to operate with HP 780 Low-Solvent inks (and companion industrial solvent chemistries), this head is factory-shipped with a dedicated solvent flush cartridge / transport fluid to maintain fluidic chamber integrity and prevent air lock or nozzle drying during storage and transit.

1. Platform Differentiation from Thermal DesignJets & 9000s/10000s: The Q6670-60001 printhead is engineered exclusively for the HP DesignJet 8000s. It is completely incompatible with thermal inkjet plotters (HP 70, 72, 771, 774). Furthermore, it is not interchangeable with the HP DesignJet 9000s / 10000s (which utilize the larger Konica Minolta KM512 MN 14 pl printhead under part number Q6665-60001). Attempting cross-installation will cause electrical short-circuits on the carriage PCA.
2. Solvent Flushing & Priming Requirement: Prior to ink charging, the included flushing cartridge must be used to purge storage fluid from the printhead internal fluidics. Never introduce solvent ink into a dry head or one containing incompatible transit fluid, as this will cause fluid gelation and permanent channel blockage.
3. Head Alignment & Mechanical Slanted Angle Setup: Unlike auto-aligning thermal printheads, the 8000s requires mechanical alignment. Ensure mechanical slant adjustment and electronic bi-directional calibration patterns are executed via the technician utility to prevent bi-directional stepping and horizontal banding.
4. FFC Ribbon Cable Insertion: Turn off the main circuit breaker and disconnect power cords before reseating printhead ribbon cables. Misaligning or inserting flexible cables at an angle can short the high-voltage piezo drive lines (30–38V), destroying the head drive board (HDC) and carriage electronics.

*Model Differentiation Note: The HP DesignJet 8000s carriage utilizes six individual Q6670-60001 printheads. It cannot be used in HP DesignJet 9000s or 10000s printers (which require KM512 heads under part number Q6665-60001). Always confirm printer chassis model number on the serial plate before breaking package seals.
Condition: 100% Brand New, Genuine OEM Factory-Original Replacement Printhead in sealed electrostatic protective packaging with shipping preservation fluid intact.
Manufacturer Warranty: Precision industrial piezoelectric part. Covered under manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects out-of-box prior to ink introduction. No manufacturer warranty applies once solvent ink has been charged through the fluidic chambers or if damage results from head strikes or electrical cabling errors.
Return Policy: Precision electronic solvent component. Unopened, factory-sealed boxes are eligible for standard commercial return. Once the anti-static seal is broken or the head installed, returns cannot be accepted due to fluid cross-contamination and piezo driver voltage exposure risks.
