Original Brother LK7133001 (superseding LK7133002) printhead carriage unit designed for Brother MFC-J legacy A3 and A4 multifunction inkjet printers.
OEM Part Number: LK7133001 / LK7133002 | Business Inkjet Multifunction Scanning Carriage Chassis & Head Retainer Assembly
The Original Brother LK7133001 / LK7133002 Printhead Carriage Unit is a factory-original electro-mechanical scanning carriage frame designed to restore accurate printhead alignment, correct platen clearance, and stable bidirectional registration across Brother business multifunction inkjet printers. Riding along the central precision steel carriage shaft, this chassis securely houses the multi-color piezoelectric printhead module, preventing mechanical skew, rotational play, and platen strikes during continuous high-speed text and graphic sweeps.
Molded from high-rigidity polyoxymethylene (POM) engineering composite with self-lubricating sleeve bushings, the LK7133001 / LK7133002 minimizes frictional drag on the carriage drive motor, protecting the drive motor against overload, belt slipping, and thermal shutdown. The chassis incorporates specialized retention channels for the 4-line fluid supply tube harness connected to off-carriage front-loading ink bays (LC103 / LC107 / LC109 / LC38 / LC563 series). It also features an exact-tolerance mounting pocket for the carriage encoder PCB (CR sensor), maintaining optical alignment with the transparent linear timing slit film to eliminate horizontal banding, ghosting, and line-feed errors.

1. Platform Incompatibility with Earlier J-Series & T-Series: The LK7133001 / LK7133002 is designed specifically for this generation of Business Inkjet machines (MFC-J2310 / J2510 / J3520 / J3720). It cannot be used in older cartridge models (such as MFC-J625DW which use LK6090001 / LK5399001 or MFC-J6510DW which use LK6583001), nor continuous refill tank models (such as D01L64001 / D01L64002). Check chassis clips and damper seats before ordering.
2. Guide Rail Cleaning & Lubrication Protocol: Prior to mounting the replacement carriage onto the steel guide shaft, clean away all dried ink aerosol, paper dust, and hardened grease using an alcohol-dampened lint-free cloth. Apply an even film of Brother-approved synthetic PTFE grease (Floil / Krytox formulation). Running the carriage dry will cause excessive friction and trigger Error 48, Error 49, or Error 4F drive motor faults.
3. Linear Timing Strip (Encoder) Threading Care: Carefully thread the transparent linear timing strip through the slotted center of the optical sensor. Never touch the optical strip with bare hands or crease the film. If smudged, clean gently with a dry microfiber cloth—never use alcohol or solvent cleaners on the timing strip, as solvents will dissolve the fine printed index marks.
4. Post-Assembly Maintenance Routine: Following mechanical reassembly, access Brother Maintenance Mode (`Menu` > `Mono Start` > `Up Arrow 4 times` on key models) and execute:
• Function 68: Automatic printhead alignment and sensor check.
• Function 77: Print the comprehensive all-nozzle check and registration test pattern to verify proper vertical and horizontal drop placement.
